The 2010 Ford Fusion as we had discussed a few days ago is a very safe car to drive. It has 6 airbags and is equipped with Ford AdvanceTrac. In addition to this, there is something called the SOS-Post Crash Alert System that comes into action right after an accident. In case you meet with an accident, the Ford Fusion will automatically switch on the hazard lights and the horn will come on as well to attract attention of passers-by who can come to your assistance.

Almost all cars in the market today come with Power Steering and there is nothing unique about this, but the Ford Fusion has Variable Assist Power Steering. The thing that makes variable assist different from ordinary power steering is its ability to vary the level of power assist according to the vehicle’s speed. With ordinary power steering systems, power assist remains constant. Variable assist power steering, though, can change the amount of power assist according to speed and steering inputs so you are able to enjoy the best of both worlds: easy steering when you need it for parking and maneuvering, and good road feel and stability when cruising.

Talking about cruising, cruise control comes as standard in the 2010 Ford Fusion. So no matter which model you buy, its there. This definitely is not something that you see in mid-price range sedans in the UAE. Another feature you don’t find in most cars competing with the Ford Fusion is power seats. The Fusion comes with a 6 way Power Seat with Lumber Support. Best that!!!

One final thing I thought I should mention in connection with the Ford Fusion is the fact that it has a Capless Fuel Filler System called – Ford Easy Fuel. This feature is important since we did mention right at the start of the Ford Fusion Blog series that this is a car with awesome fuel economy. Easy Fuel ensures that you have minimum evaporation of fuel from the car and also prevents you from miss-fueling just in case you are not paying attention at the petrol station.  We have mentioned this earlier as well, that fuel nozzles for petrol and diesel around the world have uniform sizes. This means that with the Easy Fuel technology in the Ford Fusion you will never be able to use a diesel nozzle in you car…it just won’t fit.

The 2010 Ford Fusion takes care of this problem very easily. The rear seats have perhaps the largest leg room for this category of car and the boot (dicky) is spacious enough to fit the luggage of your extended family. The way I look at it, if your cousins can pay for excess baggage at the Mumbai airport…you can carry their luggage and a lot more from Terminal 3 to your home.

In addition to the large dicky space, you also have the option to put the rear seats does not get some more space for luggage. In most cars this is a cumbersome task, but in the 2010 Ford Fusion you just pull one lever and the seat goes down. The interesting this is also that the rear seats are split in a 70-30 ratio and you can individually choose which seats you want to put down since there are two levers for the seats.

Another feature that was highlighted today was the Message Centre that is visible on the dashboard. This is quite a useful feature that keeps you updated on all that is happening in the car. The Message Centre can display information like – Kilometers to Empty, Fuel Economy rate and a lot more. You can also get a complete vehicle health report and even find out when your next service is due on the vehicle.

Most music systems give you thumping bass when the volume is pumped up; but the true test of a music system – be it home or car audio, is how well the sub-woofers handle bass when the volume is low. No surprises here, the Ford Fusion excels at this. and I found myself listening to more music in the Fusion because I just love good sounding audio.

At this point in time, I would like to remind you that the Ford Fusion is after all a mid-price range car and features like this are hard to come by in this category of sedans. To take the audio and entertainment experience to the next level, the Ford Fusion is equipped with Microsoft SYNC. This technology enables you to connect not just your phone to the car audio system using Bluetooth, but you can do the same with a USB drive as well. The car responds to audio commands you give it, like –“Redial Number,” “Call 0 4 3 9 1 2 0 0 0.” You can use voice commands to do a complete check on the health of your car and even play music off your USB drive. Controlling the car’s audio system is also possible with the buttons on the steering wheel enabling you to concentrate on the road at all times.

The 2010 Ford Fusion is one of the smoothest rides I have experienced. The smooth ride is also accompanied by a reassurance that the car is very safe. The Ford Fusion has a 5 Star Safety rating in crash tests from all sides. This is the highest rating a car can achieve. The Fusion is equipped with Ford’s Advance Trac with Electronic Stability Control.  This is primarily an accident avoidance system built into the car, which takes over partial control of the car when a dangerous situation is detected.

The Ford Fusion is also equipped with 6 airbags. There are two front airbags that are meant for the passenger and the driver. These are dual stage airbags, which open to different levels depending on the seat position of those in the front seats. There are two side impact airbags and two curtain airbags to provide protection incase the car rolls over.

Now lets introduce you to our new car. The 2010 Ford Fusion is a 2.5L Engine that produces 175 horsepower. The Fusion is a mid-price range sedan with Front Wheel Drive, four-wheel independent suspension and 6-speed automatic transmission.

The 6 gears in the car give the Ford Fusion several advantages. The first and perhaps most important in this day and age is – Better Fuel Economy. Having 6 gears also ensures that your drive in the car is very smooth and you do not even feel that the car is changing gears. The 6-speed transmission also gives the engine and transmission longer life.

In addition to the rear-parking camera, the Taurus also comes with a “Cross Traffic Alert System.” This is a very useful function when you are in a crowded parking lot and are trying to reverse out of your parking space. Usually you need to reverse sufficiently out of your slot to be able to see if you have a vehicle crossing behind you. However with the Cross Traffic Alert System you can reverse with ease since you get a message on your dashboard if there is traffic crossing you from behind.

Last evening on the show we had an expert from Al Tayer Motors and Ford – Mr. Sathish Sarath talking about the Adaptive Cruise Control in the 2011 Ford Taurus. This technology takes the standard Cruise Control that is seen in most cars to the next level. Adaptive Cruise Control uses Advanced Radar Technology to detect the distance between your car and the car in front of you when you are on Cruise Control. This enables the car to slow down when the car in front of you slows down and speed up when the car in front of you speeds up, thus maintaining the preset distance between the Taurus and the car just ahead of you. Adaptive Cruise Control has three different modes – Sporty, Normal and Comfort. These three modes enable you to maintain different distances between cars depending on your driving style.

The Ford Taurus also has a highly advanced accident avoidance system in the form of – “Collision Warning with Brake Assist.”  This is a set of red lights that light up close to where the dashboard meet the windscreen. If the car senses that you are about to collide with the vehicle in front of you, these lights light up in red, warning you of the danger and your brakes get armed for deployment. This means that when you press the brake, the car will stop enabling you to avoid collision.

The Ford Taurus has an Integrated Keypad for entry in case you do not want to use the traditional key. This keypad is sleekly integrated onto the door and feels great to touch. Your unique combination that you set gets you into the car without the need for the key. Once you are in the car, you can simple push a button to start and stop the car. Its sleek, elegant and hassle free.

Another technology that this car possesses is the, “My Key Feature.” Personally I find this quite thoughtful. Basically the car comes with two keys – An Admin key and a Secondary key. The Admin key has complete control and freedom over the car and can even set restrictions on the secondary key. Say for example you are the main driver of your brand new 2011 Ford Taurus and occasionally another less experienced driver in the family drives your car. What you could do is limit the top speed to say – 90kmph. Not only that, you could also make sure they do not blast the music system volume to maximum and thus lose concentration on the road.  Also perhaps you are worried that they will wait till the last minute to refuel the car and so you could customize the secondary key to warn them in advance when the fuel tank is nearing empty. 

The “My Key” technology also works with the Push Button variants of the Ford Taurus by sensing which of the two keys are in your pocket and adjusting the drive of the car accordingly.

When you sit in the Ford Taurus you know you are sitting in a safe car that has a 5 Star Safety Rating in crash tests from all sides. This is the highest safety rating that a car can get. The car comes equipped with 6 airbags; something that’s not seen very often in this particular car segment.

There are two Dual Stage Front Airbags, one for the driver and one for the passenger. The Dual Stage Airbags are able to sense the position of the driver or passenger depending on their seat positions. If the seat is pulled front, the airbag opens half way and if you seat is pushed back, the airbags opens to its full size. This innovation helps reduce injury, if any, caused by the airbags in case of an accident.

There are two seat mounted side airbags as well in the Ford Taurus which move with the seat, thus offering more protection in case of a side impact. For roll protection, the car is also equipped with two Safety Canopy Curtain Airbags.

While all these innovations take care of you in case of an accident, the Ford Taurus also ensures that you drive safely. The car is equipped with a state of the art Blind Spot Information System (BLIS). BLIS ensures that you are warned about cars that are in your blind spot while you are driving. Very often you might be on Sheikh Zayed Road or Emirates Road and just when you are about to change lanes you stop when you notice a car coming out all of a sudden from your blind spot. BLIS ensures this never happens. Whenever there is a car or hazard in your blind spot, the red LED lights up with a warning enabling you to make the right decision on when to change lanes.

Another feature of the Ford Taurus that we talked about today was the SOS Post Crash Alert System. This feature is meant to attract attention to the car in the event of an accident. When the car senses that you have been in a crash, it automatically switches on the hazard lights and horn to ensure that people around can come to aid you; thoughtful and reassuring.

One of the other things we talked about last evening on the show was the fact that the 2011 Ford Taurus looks extremely athletic and muscular. You will notice that the front of the car features the three bar grill that is becoming a standard design element with Ford Cars.

The look of the 2011 Ford Taurus is enhanced by the wheels as well. The car comes with the option of three rim sizes – 18, 19 and 20 inches. If you think about it, that’s quite big for a sedan, making your ride stand out in a parking lot.

Also as you walk around the car you will find great attention to detail paid to making the car look sporty and sleek. Over the next few days we will cover some of these features but for now I’ll stop right here, but do notice the Twin Chrome Exhaust Tips in the rear.

The 2011 Ford Taurus comes with an option of Front Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive. There are three variants of the car – SE, SEL and SHO. The SE and SEL variants have 3.5L V6 Engines producing 263BHP, while the SHO is a Supercharged Twin Turbo Engine, which produces V8 power from a V6 engine without compromising on fuel efficiency making it a green car with 365 BHP.

The 2011 Ford Taurus has a 6-Speed Automatic Gear Box, which makes the acceleration very smooth and at the same time provides you with amazing fuel economy.

Since the music system is equipped with SYNC, you can actually talk to the car. It’s a lot of fun. You can say, “Vehicle Health Report,” and you get to know how the car is doing. You can also make calls by just saying the word. SYNC also enables you to play music off the USB without having to look though all the songs. Just say the word and the action is done. This enables you to concentrate on the road and drive safely. The Mustang is also equipped with a 6 CD changer, AUX In, AM/FM and of course Bluetooth connectivity to your phone.

One of the other things we were talk about on the show last evening was what we call – “The Anti-Hollywood Mechanism.” Basically in the unlikely event of you getting locked in the boot (Dicky) of your Mustang, you can pull a lever that glows in the dark to escape from your filmy capturers…yes yes…just like in those thriller-type Hollywood movies. Also in the 2010 Ford Mustang you will notice that it has a lot more space than your average sports car. For additional space in the dicky, you can also put the rear seats down and fill the Mustang up.

Here is a quick recap of what we were talking about on Top Drive with Al Tayer Motors and Ford. Our conversation last evening was about the Rear View camera that comes as standard on all 2010 Ford Mustangs in the UAE. The rear view camera is really something you can get used to. While audio sensors are great to give you a good feel of what is behind, lets face it, nothing beats a visual reference and the one the Ford Mustang gives you is quite awesome.

Take a look at the photos and you will know what I mean. When you put the car in reverse, the rear view camera comes on and you can see the display right in the rear view mirror. I personally find this quite nice when compared to other cars that give you the rear view images on the GPS Navigation or Music System screen. In addition to this convenience, the camera has a wide angle covering quite a bit at the back and for additional assistance there are lines to indicate distance to objects. The lines are colored green, yellow and red. Green indicates plenty of space, yellow indicates less space and red indicates you will soon hear a bang…(Wink Wink)
Another thing we discussed on the show last evening were the models of the 2010 Ford Mustang available in the UAE. Currently you can get the Mustang in three variants – The Convertible, the Coupé and the Coupé with the Glass Roof. 

The Convertible is quite a head turner and you can get the top down by pressing a button in less than 30 seconds. That’s actually quite fast. The Coupé with the glass roof is actually the car Tia and I currently have with us. The roof is made of very strong glass that is acoustically laminated and has a tint that cuts off about 90% of UV rays actually making the car quite cool to sit inside even on a hot UAE summers day.

When looking at safety, lets first look at braking. The Mustang has Ventilated Disc Brakes. Now Disc Brakes get hot when they are used especially at high speeds because of the friction. The problem with the discs heating up is that they then do not perform the one task they are meant to…Braking…The Disc Brakes on the 2010 Ford Mustang remain effective even at high speeds since they are ventilated and hence cool down fast and efficiently.  In addition to this the Ford Mustang will take care of you in three important ways. Firstly, it tries its best to avoid an accident. The Mustang is equipped with Ford’s AdvanceTrac. This is an accident avoidance system that takes over partial control of the car when the car senses danger. Perhaps you swerve in a hurry when you see something ahead of you at a high speed. The car immediately steps in to ensure stability is maintained and you are safe. The AdvanceTrac also includes Traction Control and the Anti-Lock Brake System. So this is how the Mustang helps avoid accidents.
 
 Secondly, the car ensures your safely in an accident. The Mustang is equipped with 4 airbags. There are two seat mounted airbags which move with your seat and can thus always ensure your safety and two front dual stage airbags that open to half or full size depending on your height and weight.
 
 And finally, just in case you are in an accident and the airbags open, the car automatically switches to SOS mode where it turns on the hazard lights to attract attention for help and rescue.
 
 Thus you see that the 2010 Ford Mustang ensures your safety, before, during and after an accident. When you sit in the Mustang, you just know it’s a safe car…after all it does have a 5 Star Safety Rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It earned this rating for the driver and passenger in front and side crash tests, as well as for rollover performance. The Mustang uses high strength steel in its body structure and uses ultra high strength steel in the door intrusion beams for additional side impact protection. In short, the Mustang you will feel safe…I know I do.

What I love about the Ford Mustang is the fact that when you sit inside the mood is set with the internal lighting. Quite a few cars on the market come with mood lighting but the Ford Mustang takes it one step further. The gauges in the Mustang can be customized using a range of colors. Now you might be thinking, “How does this help?” The thing is that the changes in color can keep the car looking fresh every time you sit inside. Check out the photos below and you will see what I mean. Next time you are in your car, observe carefully how often you look at the speedometer…very very often. However for most of us, the speedometer we look at so often come in one standard color that’s decided by the manufacturer. With the Mustang, the choice is in your hands. Change the colors and save them on your presets. 

 
 You must now be wondering why I chose to tell you about this feature of the Mustang over so many others. Well for me this is one of the many things that make the car what it is. You see with a good looking American Muscle car like this, its not just important for those who see the car to go, “Wow,” that I believe should be the privilege of the owner as well who most often sees the inside of the car. The 2010 Ford Mustang achieves and exceeds this, and quite honestly, every time I have sat in the car, I have gone, “Wow.”

Yes that is the car that Tia and I(Rohit) will be driving around this week and since Tia is still on leave, I get complete possession of the Mustang! She is a head turner, Sunset Gold, which of course is the Color of the Year. A V8 – 4.6-liter engine packed with enough horsepower to wake up the neighbors and get mothers to hold on tight to their daughters. The Mustang is raw power.
I have been taking her out on the roads of Dubai and she gets reactions from people like no other car I have ever driven. The first thing you notice in the Mustang is its sound. When you hit the ignition, the roar of the twin exhausts pronounces the power of the V8 engine to all in the neighborhood.

Another interesting comfort feature is that the middle row can be reclined to make your passengers feel more comfortable. This is usually not the case with most cars where only the front seats can be reclined making everyone want to sit in the front seat. Nomore fights when you go on a long drive to Fujairah or decide to take the whole family to Wild Wadi.
The 2010 Ford Explorer features a Capless Refueling System. Its interesting to see that when you open the Refueling door, there is no Cap. There are several advantages to this new system. First of all, if you are prone to losing your fuel cap, that problem is quite easily eliminated. Secondly, not having a fuel cap prevents the fuel from evaporating making this feature very environment friendly.Now if you look at the photo you are probably wondering what makes this system so secure. Well this is something I did not know, but apparently fuel nozzles for petrol and diesel around the world are of uniform size. This means that all petrol nozzles are identical in size and all diesel nozzles are identical to other diesel nozzle. So when you go to the petrol station, only the petrol nozzle will fit in your Ford Explorer and open it; nothing else will. The diesel nozzle will be too big and not fit and no other device apart from the petrol nozzle will open your fuel tank. Its simple yet brilliant!

To talk about these dual stage airbags on the show today we had Mr. Sathish Sarath, Sales Training Manager at Al Tayer Motors who told us that when someone sits in the front seats in the Ford Explorer, the sensors measure the height and weight of the individual and depending on that open the airbags at the time of impact to an optimal level. This prevents injury caused by airbags. Another thing that’s really nice on the pocket with the Ford Explorer is that when nobody is sitting in the passenger seat, the airbag is deactivated for that seat and hence it will not open at the time of impact and hence will save you some replacement cost post an accident. The great things about this is also that the car knows when a passenger is sitting and when its just your laptop bag or hand bag.

Another interesting safety feature we noticed in the Ford Explorer is the Side Hand Rests on each of the doors that are made of specialized soft rubber. In most cars you will notice that these hand rests are made of hard plastic or hard leather. This means that in case of an impact, injury will also be caused by these hard surfaces. However since the side hand rests in the Explorer are made of soft rubber, the risk of injury is greatly reduced._

What you will see is simple yet thoughtful. Now like me, if you stay in an apartment building that has an access controlled by a ‘Clicker’ or ‘transponder’ this feature is quite useful. Now to get into my apartment I press the button on my Clicker that opens the gate. The problem with this is that almost 7 out of 10 times when I get to the gate, I cannot find my Clicker. This simple innovation by Ford takes care of this. What you can do is place your Clicker inside this compartment. Then when you reach home, just push on the compartment and that automatically clicks the open button and your gate opens…Simple…and Brilliant!!!

So let me explain how this works- The 2010 Ford Explorer has a ‘Ladder type chassis’ – It makes the car more durable, giving it rigidity, strength and towing capability.It amazed me to find out this mean-machine I’m driving can pull up to 3,300 kgs of weight!!! This strength makes the Ford Explorer a tank-like heavy duty vehicle- which in turn of course increases your safety.  Of course the probability of impacts or accidents is further reduced by the fact that people on the road aint messing with this one.SMOOTH AND SILENT- If you’ve ever driven at the speed of 100 on Sheikh Zayed road and have switched off your ac or opened the window for some reason, you would have experienced this drone /noise that almost hits the car (and your ears) like a truck! This is termed -NVH- Noise vibration harshness which is heavily reduced in the 2010 Ford Explorer. i.e.: the quietness of the vehicle is enhanced! This is done by 2 means- The side-view mirrors are designed to deflect the wind and noise AWAY from the car. Also the windshield is made of acoustic laminated glass to cut out the unwanted sounds!  So it’s a beast for sure… but a silent one at that. Needless to say – I’m loving it!! As a person used to driving an automatic car, complicated gear boxes always make me wary and I was pleasantly surprised to see a neat set of buttons that can be pushed to shift the car from a regular sedan mode to 4×4 high or 4×4 low! Now wait! Let me explain – the 2010 For Explorer drives on the roads like a usual rear-wheel drive (saving precious fuel) however when it comes into contact with special conditions – sand gravel etc, or when you want to go off-roading – it automatically shifts into 4×4 high mode! If you want to shift gears yourself at some point – no issues – just click on the 4×4 high button and it’s done!! No complicated gear shifts, transmission shifts required! That’s not all, in extreme, demanding conditions one needs to shift to 4×4 low (again at the click of a button). This gives the Ford Explorer more pulling power. E.g.: Trying to pull another car, trying to get out of a sand pit etc. In the coming days I will be sharing with you some of the most awesome features that I discover in my new love – 2010 Ford Explorer only on TOP DRIVE.

The keypad is on the driver’s side and every 2010 Ford Edge comes with a set combination. Once you punch in that number (which you can change to maintain privacy) the door unlocks! So if like me you often get locked out of your own car, as long as you know that combination, entry into your car is just a few numbers away!!! The function is also great when you step out of your car for just a minute and want to keep your engine (and in this heat – THE AC RUNNING) you don’t need to switch off your car and can lock it keeping the keys inside! Certain numbers also open the rear doors and even the boot is accessible through the keypad! Technology to the rescue!!!!!!

Today on the show we had a guest who spoke to us about the safety aspects of the Ford Edge. Sathish Sarath, Sales Training Manager at Al Tayer Motors told us about the 6 airbags that come as standard on the Ford Edge. 

The amazing thing about the airbags on the Edge is that depending on the height of the driver, the size to which the airbag inflates varies. This is what is called the Dual Stage Airbag System. For example if you are a shorter person and sit closer to the steering wheel, you don’t need the airbag to inflate fully. The Ford Edge is smart enough to detect driver size and thus ensures top level safety to all those in the car.   The Ford Edge also have some amazing Accident Avoidance Features like the ADVANCETRAC and ROLL STABILITY CONTROL. These features kick into action when you might find yourself in an emergency situation. Say, you are driving at high speeds on Emirates Road and someone cuts you off and you are forced to turn you steering wheel suddenly. This is where this technology helps save lives. What it does is automatically reduces power to the engine and maintains control over the vehicle.

There are several features that quite appeal to Tia and Myself (Rohit) in the 2010 Ford Edge that we are currently driving. Today we were talking about the ‘Rear Tail Gate’ (commonly called the DICKIE). Now if you are short, this will be something that you will love in the Ford Edge…the Dicke has an automatic close button. Technically this is called a “Power Tail Gate”…we call it the Button-Wala-Dickie.  Now this is a really practical innovation for those who use the dickie a lot. Imagine you have gone shopping and filled the car with the months groceries.  Now, you reach up to try to close the dickie…as most often is the case, you need to jump a little or stretch to get this done. Now with the “Power Tail Gate”(Button-Wala-Dickie) all you have to do is press one button and the Dickie closes on its own. Now just in case the door is closing and you are still in the way, don’t worry, the door senses you are there and prevents the door from closing and injuring you.

Today on Drive Master GoGo Tia and I(Rohit) were talking about two things that we really love in 2010 Ford Edge. The first is the ‘Easy Fold Feature’ that makes carrying excess luggage very easy in the Edge. Very often you need to flatten the rear seats in your car to carry some excess load. Now to do this in your car, you probably have to do it manually running to the rear doors and pressing a lever to get the seats flat. The Ford Edge however has a button you can press that will flatten your seats in a second.  To add to this, you can even flatten your  front passenger seat thus making it possible to actually carry stuff that’s 8 feet long…this could be your shower curtain rod, beach umbrella or even your skis if you are planning a trip to Ski Dubai.  The second thing we talked about on the  show today was the Ford Edge music system called – Sync. This has been designed in collaboration with Microsoft and the device has some uber-cool features. Sync can connect to your mobile phone via Bluetooth and can even download your entire phone book. The car is equipped with a CD player, AM/FM radio, Aux-in and a USB slot. The USB slot is amazing. Tia loves this feature more than anything else. You can now copy all your music onto a USB drive and insert it in the slot and then…get this…use Voice Control to select your music. Its really quite amazing when you say, “Play – Atif Aslam”…and it chooses a song of his. You can use voice control to make calls as well. The voice recognition on board the 2010 Ford Edge not only makes for fun conversation but also helps you concentrate on the road while driving.

Since I (Rohit) had the Ford Edge with me over the weekend, I decided to take the car on what I would like to call and Extended Test Drive on highway E-66. For this, I got a few friends to jump into the car and we headed from Dubai to Al Ain. The journey is a little over 120 km and takes you through a few diversions on an otherwise straight road. The Ford Edge has a good and efficient cruise control system that enables you to sit back and enjoy your drive.  The car has some impressive safely features that fortunately I did not have to use. These include 6 airbags and some highly advanced accident avoidance systems. On the way to Al Ain, we kept seeing the vast desert on both sides and even noticed several camels. Since we had time on our side we decided to take the Ford Edge Off road and click photos with the camels. On the right of the E-66 we found a stone and mud track that led far into the desert. We took it for about 3km and stopped to take a few photos of the camels.  Unfortunately by the time we were able to change the flash card in the camera, the camels left us to check out E-66…end result, we only got photos of ourselves with the car…and one camel in the distance. 

The Ford Edge performs very well in off-road conditions like the one we encountered, however we were on route to the mountains and the desert was of no interest to us and so we turned around. We reached the base of Jabel Hafeet Mountain soon enough and the Ford Edge maneuvered its way to the top without even a hint of a strain. We took 60 incredible turns and climbed 4000 feet. When you take turns up and down a mountain you realize that the All Wheel Drive the Ford Edge comes with gives you a lot more control over your vehicle than you have ever had before. It’s awesome.  

Once at the top of the mountain we enjoyed a scenic sunset and some machine chai at the cafeteria and then headed back to Dubai. On the way, we picked up a few more friends and then headed to Umm Sequim Open beach…All in a days work for the Ford Edge.

Since the Ford Edge is an AWD, the moment it detects that one wheel is not able to grip the road well (Perhaps because its in the sand or a slippery surface), power is distributed to the other wheels to enable you to move forward with a firm grip of the road. You will notice, just like I did, that AWD technology enables you to be a lot more stable when you are at an interchange or turning at higher speeds or making it up a hill or mountain much like Jabel Hafeet.

We at City1016 are very proud of Aasha! Why? Her list of goodness is long, starting with her contribution to the children of Zimbabwe, for which she raised the money by her own innovative means.
This talented girl has been a volunteer for Friends of Cancer and helped raise funds for people affected in the Philippines disaster in 2009.

On air, she spoke about the importance of consistent, regular hard work, which according to her would always help you keep ahead of others.

Besides her interest in social works, she is a talented singer having performed solo in various internationals events, plays the keyboard, loves to travel and cook! Yeah, for a eleven year old, she sure has plenty up her sleeve!

But not content with cleaning up the school they decided to take their mission out of their school compound. The students will be planting trees in the barren area around their school which belongs to the Dubai Municipality and pledge to look after the trees too!
Now, thats a real ‘green’ message!

Neharika, Javeria and Sameer went on air on City1016 to encourage the general public to do their bit for the earth. “Children’s voices can be heard too” they said!
