UAE sends 200 tonnes of aid to flood-hit Kenya

WAM

The UAE has dispatched five aircraft carrying 200 tonnes of essential food supplies and medical equipment to Kenya.

This follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to allocate $15 million in aid to support those affected by the recent floods and heavy rainfall that swept through the African nation, resulting in hundreds of deaths and the displacement of thousands of people.

Sultan Al Shamsi, the UAE's Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations Affairs said the initiative reflects the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

He added that the UAE will continue to provide necessary humanitarian aid and implement an early recovery programme to address the impact of the floods.
