Employees registered on UAE Wages Protection System up by 27%

The average number of registered employees on the UAE Wages Protection System (UAEWPS) increased to AED 5.2 million in 2022, a rise from AED 4.2 million in 2021.

That's according to the Central Bank of the UAE's 2022 Annual Report, which was issued on Wednesday. 

Total salaries increased from AED 46.4 million to AED 55.5 million, while the value of salaries paid also went up, amounting to AED 249 billion compared with AED 212 billion in 2021. 

The WPS saw an increase of 27 per cent in the number of employers registered on December 31, 2022, jumping from 216,690 to 275,680.
