Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander will battle it out at the National Film Awards 2016. The couple - who have been dating since meeting on the set of upcoming movie 'The Light Between Oceans' - will go head-to-head in the Best Breakthrough Performance category at the awards ceremony in London on March 31. Alicia has been nominated for 'Ex-Machina' while Michael received the nod for his performance in 'Slow West'. Both have been nominated for a second gong with Alicia up for Best Actress for 'The Danish Girl' and Michael for Best Actor in 'Macbeth'. The nominees for Global Contribution to Motion Picture include Hugh Grant, Denzel Washington, Ben Kingsley, Meryl Streep, Harrison Ford, Samuel L Jackson, Michael Caine, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kevin Spacey A list of new breakthrough talent also made the National Film Awards 2016 shortlist; Battling it out on the Best Newcomer category are Taron Egerton, Agyness Deyn, Bel Powley, Milo Parker, John Boyega, Abigail Hardingham, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sonoya Mizuno, Karidja Touré and Hermione Corfield. Helen Mirren is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the awards ceremony, which celebrates the achievements of established and independent film makers, actors, actresses, casting directors, production companies and crew.
