10 killed in jet crash in Russia; Wagner boss on passenger list

Ten people died after a private jet crashed in Russia's Tver region, north of Moscow, TASS news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the emergencies ministry.

Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin was listed as a passenger on the jet which crashed, TASS said, citing Rosaviatsia, Russia's aviation authority.

However, there was no confirmation that Prigozhin was physically on board. 

The Embraer aircraft, en route from Moscow to St Petersburg, was carrying seven passengers and three crew.

"An investigation has been launched into the Embraer plane crash that occurred tonight in the Tver region. According to the passenger list, among them is the name and surname of Yevgeny Prigozhin," Rosaviatsia said.

Russia's emergency situations ministry said that 10 people had been on board, including three crew members.

According to preliminary information, everyone on board had been killed, it added.
