69 people killed in armed attack in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo

WAM

Security authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo announced that at least 69 people were killed in an attack by gunmen in the northeast of the country.

Authorities reported that the attacks targeted isolated villages in Ituri province, noting that most of the victims were civilians.

It is suspected that the "Cooperative for the Development of Congo" group was behind the attacks.

Local officials announced last April that more than 30 people had been killed in attacks carried out by ISIS militants in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
