Oman, Iran discuss temporary navigation corridor in Strait of Hormuz

Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi has held talks in Iran with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, focusing on the resumption of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Oman News Agency, the two sides discussed a phased plan to restore safe passage through the Strait while respecting the sovereignty and rights of both countries.

The proposed framework includes establishing a temporary joint navigation corridor and an agreement to implement a joint project to clear the Strait of mines.

The two sides will continue technical negotiations on agreeing on a permanent navigational corridor and future administration of the Strait, along with arrangements for information-sharing, traffic management and navigation and security services.
