Theresa May under pressure to quit over Brexit strategy

Emmanuel DUNAND / AFP

Just a week before the UK is due to leave the European Union, newspaper reports claim cabinet ministers are plotting a coup against British Prime Minister Theresa May.

According to The Sunday Times, 11 senior ministers have agreed that the prime minister should stand down, claiming her judgment has "gone haywire".

In fact, they have even hinted at reluctantly backing the agreement if they knew she will not be in charge.

So far, May's Brexit deal has been defeated twice by lawmakers.

After securing a delay to Brexit until at least April 12, May recently hinted that she would not back another vote until she's confident it would pass.
