Trump backs down on election interference comments

SAUL LOEB / AFP

Donald Trump has backed down on comments he made on whether or not her would report foreign interference in a campaign.

In an interview with Fox News on Friday, the US President said he would definitely report any offer of damaging information about a political opponent to the FBI.

However in another interview with ABC earlier this week, Trump questioned why he would report offers from other counties to help his re-election bid.

Democrats have accused him of giving Russia a green-light to meddle in the upcoming 2020 presidential elections.
