Ukraine hit an oil facility overnight in Russia's Yaroslavl region, and the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X on Sunday.
He said the Azot plant was critical for Russia's explosives production, and that strikes on Russian military logistics had also been conducted in occupied parts of Ukraine.
"Ukraine is carrying out its plan of long-range sanctions against Russia and the assigned tasks regarding mid-range strikes in response to Russia’s refusal to end this war," Zelenskyy said, using the term he frequently uses to describe Ukrainian strikes on Russia.
The governor of Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Yevryaev, said a massive Ukrainian drone attack had hit the region. He said that while most of the drones had been downed, some had gotten through and hit fuel storage facilities, causing a large fire. He warned of a repeat drone attack later in the morning.
