The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) is urging pet owners to register their cats and dogs through the TAMM portal's animal ownership system, launching on February 3.
This new system will create a centralized database for pet owners and their microchipped animals, emphasizing commitment to animal welfare and legal compliance.
The DMT highlights the importance of collaboration in this initiative, with veterinary clinics playing a key role.
Pet owners can visit their chosen clinic to register their pets, and establishments will be able to register animals or transfer ownership for accuracy and compliance.
The programme also focuses on pet health, encouraging annual vaccinations, microchipping, and regular veterinary check-ups.
Registration will be free for now, and individual pet owners have a one-year grace period to register without penalties. However, pet shops and establishments that own cats and dogs must complete their registration within six months.
This new centralised database represents a major step forward in promoting responsible pet ownership across Abu Dhabi.
