Abu Dhabi Police have urged residents to beware of fake accounts promoting rental chalet and house offers during the summer, following an increase in activity on social media platforms.
Under their strategic awareness campaign, the authority has particularly warned against fabricated text messages and electronic fraud operations that are linked to these rental offers.
It clarified that scammers resort to posting attractive advertisements with prices lower than those in the market to lure interested victims, then request them to transfer advance amounts as deposits or insurance fees to confirm the booking before disappearing from all communication channels.
The authority advised the community to follow the awareness message broadcasts issued by its official channels and report any fraudulent attempts or suspicious activities through "Aman" by contacting 8002626 or sending a text message to 2828.
