ADNOC confirms vessel targeted by missile in Strait of Hormuz

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has confirmed that one of its vessels was targeted by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz early on Saturday.

No injuries were reported and the situation had been brought under control, the national news agency WAM reported.

ADNOC urged the public to obtain information solely from official sources and to avoid circulating rumours or unverified information.

In a statement, the UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the Iranian missile attack, calling it a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council Resolution 2817.

It emphasised that targeting commercial shipping and using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool of economic coercion or blackmail represents acts of piracy by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, and constitutes a direct threat to the stability of the region, and global energy security.

The UAE further stressed the need for Iran to halt the unprovoked attacks, ensure its full commitment to an immediate cessation of all hostilities, and the complete and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz in order to safeguard regional security, and maintain the stability of global economy and trade.

Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia also condemned the attack.
