Two attempts to smuggle almost 11 kilos of drugs through Ras Al Khaimah Airport over the last week have been successfully thwarted by the emirate's Customs Department.
The drugs were found in the bags of two passengers upon their arrival in the country, with officials saying the packages had been professionally hidden.
The travellers, and the seized contraband, were turned over to the relevant authorities.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Mahrazi, Director-General of Ras Al Khaimah Customs, praised the role played by customs personnel in protecting the country and combating customs violations.
The discovery of the drugs was due to the support of the department’s customs inspection staff through a series of intensive training courses, which taught them inspection procedures and provided them with the necessary capacities and tools to perform their work to the highest standards.
