Dubai has taken a major step towards becoming a global leader in advanced healthcare and wellness.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has has issued a law establishing the Dubai Longevity Authority (DLA), aimed at positioning Dubai as the world’s leading hub for longevity, wellness and advanced healthcare, while attracting investment into the rapidly growing sector.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, will serve as President of the Authority, while Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, has been appointed Chairman.
The new entity will support the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and Dubai Social Agenda 33, helping enhance quality of life, improve healthy life expectancy and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global destination for healthcare innovation.
Sheikh Mohammed said investing in people’s health and wellbeing remains the UAE’s greatest priority, adding that Dubai aims to lead the future of healthcare through advances in life sciences, biotechnology and medical innovation.
The Dubai Longevity Authority will oversee and regulate the full longevity and advanced healthcare ecosystem, including research and development, clinical trials, manufacturing, treatment delivery and patient care.
Working alongside key government entities, including the Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Health, Dubai Municipality and Dubai Future Foundation, the Authority will ensure the sector operates in line with the highest international standards.
Officials say the initiative will create a clear regulatory framework for emerging therapies and technologies, attract global talent and investment, and help accelerate breakthroughs that extend both lifespan and healthy living.
