Dubai Police has launched an initiative to tackle fraud and raise public awareness, working with more than 40 government, semi-government and private sector organisations.
The campaign, led by the Criminal Investigation Department, focuses on educating people about scams, particularly those carried out through phone calls and online platforms to obtain money or sensitive banking information.
Officials said the initiative aims to improve understanding of how fraud works and how to report it, targeting employees, families and the wider community.
Police have warned the public not to share personal or financial details with unknown callers, stressing that no government or financial institution would request such information over the phone.
They added that many scams are carefully planned and rely on a lack of awareness among victims.
Residents have been urged to report suspected fraud through the Dubai Police app, by calling 901, or via the eCrime platform and “Police Eye” service.
Authorities also advised anyone who suspects they have been targeted to contact their bank immediately to block transactions before reporting the incident to police.
Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, emphasised the initiative reflects Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community awareness of fraud crimes. He said the campaign, aligned with the Year of the Family, reinforces the role of public awareness as the first line of defence against fraud.
