UAE flights to and from Jakarta cancelled, delayed due to volcanic ash

Emirates and Etihad Airways have announced some cancellations and delays for flights to and from Jakarta on Monday following the temporary closure of the Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK) due to volcanic ash.

In a statement shared on its website, Emirates announced that four flights - EK356/07, EK357/07, EK358/07, and EK359/07 - have been cancelled.  Four flights had been previously cancelled on Sunday. 

The airline added that "customers connecting through Dubai to Jakarta will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice".

Meanwhile, Etihad noted that the return flight EY473 from Jakarta to Abu Dhabi on Monday will be delayed.

The airline had initially said that flight EY472 from Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport (AUH) to Jakarta Soekarno Hatta International Airport (CGK) on September 6 was experiencing some delays. Two flights had also been cancelled prior. 

Passengers have been advised to check their flight status regularly, with those impacted by the cancellations encouraged to rebook their trip.

Indonesia's transport minister said that eight Indonesian airports, including two serving Jakarta, remained closed early on Monday morning because of volcanic ash from eruptions of Mount Anak Krakatau.
