Fujairah’s Wadi Wuraya has been added to the UNESCO's World Heritage list, making it the first Emirati site to be inscribed for its outstanding natural value, and the third Emirati site on the list.
It reflects the UAE’s commitment to protecting natural heritage, preserving biodiversity, and promoting sustainability for future generations.
The announcement was made at the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in Busan. It was witnessed by a delegation from the Ministry of Culture and the Government of Fujairah.
The listing highlights the reserve's environmental and cultural significance, as well as its unique biodiversity and geological importance at the regional and international levels.
