His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is on an official visit to the UAE.
Welcoming the Malaysian leader at Za’abeel Palace in Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the long-standing historical ties between the UAE and Malaysia and reiterated commitment to strengthening bilateral relations for the benefit of both nations.
The two sides discussed the significant progress in cooperation and shared ambitions to further enhance these ties. Sheikh Mohammed encouraged greater private sector collaboration, particularly in investment, trade, tourism and travel, to capitalise on the strengths of both countries.
Ibrahim praised the UAE’s achievements and expressed Malaysia’s interest in deepening collaboration, especially in areas like development, innovation and sustainability.
The leaders also explored opportunities for expanding the UAE-Malaysia strategic partnership, focusing on sustainable development, renewable energy, food security, technology and data centres.
In 2023, non-oil trade between the two countries surpassed $4.9 billion, while the first half of 2024 alone recorded $2.5 billion in non-oil trade.
