Authorities in Fujairah have arrested a man accused of trespassing and filming in restricted locations without official permission.
Officials said the suspect, identified as an Arab national, entered the sites without authorisation and was later detained.
During questioning, authorities said the man stated he worked for a media organisation but did not have the required permits to access or film in the locations.
Investigations revealed he entered the site using a rented vehicle belonging to a journalist working for the Dubai branch of a foreign media organisation.
Investigators also found the footage had been sent electronically to the news organisation in London without approval, allegedly following instructions from a regional manager based in the Gulf.
The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
UAE law prohibits entering restricted areas without permission, as well as filming or documenting such locations without prior approval, and urged individuals and organisations to comply with regulations to protect public safety and security.
The Public Prosecution stressed the importance of adhering to applicable laws and regulations and obtaining prior official permits before undertaking any filming activities, particularly in sensitive or restricted locations, in order to preserve public safety and maintain security and public order.
