The UAE has joined forces with the World Bank Group to launch a study on the economic impact and costs associated with the most common diseases in the country.
This initiative aims to gather precise data to ensure better allocation of financial resources and improve healthcare management.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said the study titled "The Cost of the Most Common Diseases in the UAE" will be crucial in pinpointing the primary cost drivers by analyzing data and conducting a thorough examination of disease expenses.
The goal is to direct resources toward the most effective programmes and aligning strategies with future trends in the health sector both locally and globally.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Health Regulation Sector at MoHAP, and Safaa El Tayeb El Kogali, the World Bank's Country Director for the GCC.
"With accurate, evidence-based insights, we can prioritise and focus on interventions that maximise the efficient use of health resources as well as better understand the factors influencing public health and associated costs, supporting sustainable health financing," said Dr. Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector.
