The Mohamed Bin Zayed Field Hospital (MBZFH) for COVID-19 patients has been inaugurated in Sharjah.
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, carried out the inauguration and toured the facility on Sunday.
The hospital was completed within 10 days and covers an area of 7,000 square metres.
It has 204 beds; 48 for intensive care and 156 for moderate and severe cases.
The hospital’s medical team consists of 75 doctors, 231 nurses, 44 technicians and assistant health personnel.
It's part of the UAE's efforts to address the pandemic by providing optimal medical care to patients, using the latest medical equipment.
Attending the ceremony, Major General Saif Al-Zari Al Shamsi, commander-in-chief of Sharjah Police and head of the local emergency crisis and disaster team in Sharjah said it will contribute to strengthening to the emirate's capacity to treat people with COVID-19, ensuring services according to the highest standards.
Dr. Marwan Al Kaabi, Acting Executive Director of Operations at the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), said the facility is a pillar of the UAE's health care sector
He stressed that the opening of the Mohammed Bin Zayed Field Hospital is a qualitative addition to the field hospitals that have opened in Dubai and Ajman and thanked the Sharjah government for its unlimited support to complete the facility in record time.
