The UAE and the World Health Organisation have delivered 10 metric tonnes of essential medical supplies to help 49,000 Sudanese people who have taken refuge in Egypt.
The third airlift of vital supplies provided by the WHO, left Dubai’s International Humanitarian City (IHC) on Saturday morning. It arrived at Egypt's Aswan, which serves as a pivotal gateway for the distribution of aid in the region.
The supplies include non-communicable disease kits for the treatment of hypertension and diabetes as well as pediatric severe acute malnutrition kits to provide immediate care for over 4,000 children.
It was delivered using a C-130 aircraft from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, personal fleet.
According to Robert Blanchard from WHO Emergency Operations, the WHO's logistics hub in Dubai continues to play a vital role in responding to acute health emergencies around the world.
The relief is also an extension of the UAE’s humanitarian vision and underscores its relations with other countries based on human fraternity and its commitment to assisting others during crises and emergency situations.
