The United Arab Emirates, on Monday, strongly condemned and denounced the strike on a hospital in East Darfur in Sudan, which resulted in 64 deaths and injuries to 89 people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said it constituted a violation of international humnitarian law and affirmed the UAE’s categorical rejection of targeting civilians and civilian institutions.
It stressed the need to protect medical facilities, institutions, and health sector workers, emphasising they should not be a target of the conflict.
The Ministry reiterated the UAE’s firm position calling for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, a cessation of hostilities, the facilitation of unhindered access for urgent humanitarian aid, and a serious transitional process led by a comprehensive civilian government that is fully independent of the warring parties and extremist groups.
It also called on the Security Council to take all necessary measures to ensure full compliance by the warring parties.
The Ministry expressed its condolences and sympathy to the Sudanese people and to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to all the injured.
