Over the next four to six weeks, all COVID-19 vaccination centres in the UAE will focus on inoculating the elderly and people with chronic diseases in light of the recent spike in infections.
That’s according to an announcement made by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), which clarified that people who do not fall under these categories can still receive the vaccine if they booked an appointment earlier.
It is part of efforts by the authorities to focus on the more vulnerable groups as they fight to curb the spread of the virus.
MoHAP has called on families of elderly people and those with chronic diseases to urge them to get vaccinated to protect their health.
In a similar move, Abu Dhabi's Department of Health (DoH) said it is dedicating all its COVID-19 vaccination centres in Abu Dhabi and other emirates to senior citizens and residents, people with chronic diseases, and people of determination for six weeks, starting February 7.
