The UAE and Malaysia have agreed to partner to enhance transparency, advance joint efforts to combat corruption and support good governance frameworks.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the UAE Accountability Authority and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Azam bin Baki, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, who is in the UAE for a working visit, witnessed the official signing in Abu Dhabi.
The two countries already share strong economic ties, with a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to advance trade and investment relations officially in place since October 2025.
It is Malaysia’s first trade agreement with a Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nation, representing an important step in enhancing economic ties with the Arab world, and is projected to more than double bilateral trade, which reached $5.5 billion in 2024. It sets a target at increasing non-oil trade to $13.5 billion by 2032.
The agreement will also see the removal or reduction of tariffs, enhanced customs procedures, and more private sector collaboration.
