UAE sends 192 tonnes of urgent aid to Lebanon

Dubai Humanitarian has dispatched a convoy of 27 lorries, carrying 192 tonnes of vital aid to Lebanon, in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by escalating violence in the country.

The mission was carried out under the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and aims to provide crucial relief to communities displaced by the conflict, especially with winter fast approaching.

The aid consists of essential supplies including food, shelter, healthcare, and other critical resources to support over 1.2 million displaced people, particularly those from the southern regions, the Bekaa Valley, and Beirut’s southern suburbs. These areas have been severely impacted by the conflict and ongoing airstrikes.

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Chairman of Dubai Humanitarian, highlighted the UAE’s deep commitment to supporting Lebanon during this critical period. “This aid convoy is a testament to the solidarity and compassion the UAE continues to show Lebanon,” he said. “We are dedicated to alleviating the suffering of those affected by this conflict and providing assistance in their time of need.”

The operation has received strong support from the UNHCR, with Khaled Khalifa, the agency’s Senior Advisor to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, expressing appreciation for the UAE’s timely intervention.

“This is another significant step in our shared vision with partners in the UAE, such as Dubai Humanitarian. The relief includes essential items that directly address the urgent needs of displaced families in Lebanon, particularly as they prepare to face the harsh winter conditions,” Khalifa said.

The aid convoy is part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts in Lebanon, which have intensified as the country faces unprecedented challenges.

In addition to food and shelter, priority is being given to healthcare, psychosocial support, and access to safe shelter for those displaced by the ongoing conflict.

This operation is a continuation of the UAE's broader efforts to provide aid to countries in need, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa. Dubai Humanitarian, through its Global Humanitarian Impact Fund, has played a critical role in mobilising resources and sending timely assistance to conflict zones, positioning the UAE as a key leader in global humanitarian initiatives.

The Lebanese government has warned that more than 1.2 million people have been displaced by the ongoing violence, and the humanitarian needs continue to rise sharply. With access to healthcare, shelter, and essential services limited, international partners, including the UAE, remain a lifeline for many families affected by the conflict.

The aid convoy is expected to reach its destination in the coming days, with a coordinated effort to distribute the supplies swiftly and efficiently to those most in need.
