The UAE has strongly condemned the storming of Al Aqsa mosque courtyard in Jerusalem by Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and settlers under the protection of Israeli forces, calling it an unacceptable act of extremism.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reiterated its firm position on the need to provide full protection to Al Aqsa mosque and halt serious and provocative violations taking place there.

It also urged the Israeli government to take full responsibility, condemn the hostile acts, and hold the Israeli ministers and officials accountable for the incident.

UAE stressed that the continued attacks by Israelis incite hatred and violence in a systematic campaign that targets the Palestinian people threatening any possibility for peace.

On Sunday, Ben-Gvir visited the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and said he prayed there, challenging the religious rules of the holy site.
