WAM

The UAE is set to build a hospital in Yemen's Aden to boost the healthcare sector in the country under a new agreement.

The UAE Aid Agency has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the governor of Aden to construct the hospital that will include outpatient clinics and specialised units for emergency, sterilisation, radiology and intensive care. It will also feature dedicated wards for men, women and children.

“It reflects the enduring legacy and values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and is in line with the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to improve living conditions of the Yemeni people,” stated Sultan Mohamed Al Shamsi, Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency.

Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, Governor of Aden, expressed his gratitude to the UAE leadership for their unwavering support for Yemen and underscored the importance of the hospital, which he said would significantly enhance healthcare services in the city.

No timeline for the launch of the hospital was shared on national news agency Wam.
