Zayed Giving Caravans treat children, elderly in Pakistan

UAE-backed medical teams have launched a series of humanitarian missions in rural Pakistan, providing free treatment for children and elderly patients with heart conditions.

The work is being carried out through the Zayed Giving Caravans, under the slogan “Following the Path and Values of Zayed the Giving”, which is operating mobile clinics and a field hospital in villages across Sindh province.

The initiative brings together Emirati and Pakistani volunteer doctors, alongside medical specialists from several other countries. It is being delivered in partnership with Sharjah Charity House and Emirates Mobile Clinics, under the supervision of the UAE Programme for Volunteer and Humanitarian Leaders and in coordination with the UAE Consulate in Karachi.

Officials said the mobile facilities are equipped with modern diagnostic, treatment and surgical technologies, allowing teams to reach patients in remote and underserved areas.

Dr Anwar Al Zaabi, an Emirati cardiologist and head of the medical mission, said the volunteers were focused on providing free care to low-income families and easing the suffering of patients who would otherwise have limited access to specialised treatment.

He added that the programme has two main aims - promoting a culture of volunteering and compassion, and delivering practical medical support to vulnerable groups, particularly children, women and the elderly.

The caravans are expected to continue moving between villages, offering diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services, while also running training programmes to support frontline healthcare workers.

Dr Adel Al Shamry Al Ajmi, chief executive of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said the project reflected the UAE’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian medical care, with teams providing services such as laboratory testing, radiology, pharmacy support and health awareness programmes focused on heart disease.

Sultan Mohammed Al Khayyal, Secretary-General of Sharjah Charity House, said the initiative was supported by advanced field medical units and mobile clinics capable of delivering emergency, intensive care and follow-up services.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Health welcomed the UAE’s contribution, praising its role in supporting global health initiatives and promoting volunteerism and humanitarian cooperation.

The Zayed Giving Initiative was established in 2000 and has carried out medical and humanitarian missions in multiple countries, inspired by the values of generosity and compassion associated with the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
