Ajax scored a precious away goal as they beat Tottenham in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.

Donny van de Beek scored in the 15th-minute to give the Dutch champions a 1-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.

Spurs were badly affected by the absence of forwards Harry Kane and Son Heung-min as they struggled to create quality chances.

Ajax even close to scoring a second when David Neres hit the inside of the post in the second half.

The second leg will be played in the Netherlands on May 8.

The winner will face either Barcelona or Liverpool in the final on June 1.
