Arsenal are up to second in the Premier League thanks to a 1-2 win against Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, Newcastle secured an important 1-3 win at Aston Villa and Crystal Palace came from behind to defeat Sheffield United 3-2.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus starred in the Gunners' victory which puts them within touching distance of league leaders Liverpool. Jesus struck first for the away side in the 65th minute before Saka added a second seven minutes later. Forest had a glimmer of hope when Taiwo Awoniyi netted late on but it wasn’t enough for the home side.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, fourth-placed Aston Villa's impressive unbeaten home record, which spanned almost a year, came to end as they lost 1-3 to Newcastle.
Bottom side Sheffield United let a lead slip in a 3-2 defeat at Crystal Palace. Michael Olise scored the winner in the 67th minute, having already twice assisted teammate Eberechi Eze.
Elijah Adebayo scored a hat-trick as Luton thrashed Brighton 4-0 to move out of the relegation places. The Londoners have been replaced in the bottom three by Everton, who drew nil-nil at Fulham.
