Ashleigh Barty wins French Open

Australian Ashleigh Barty is the new French Open women's champion.

The 23-year-old clinched her first Grand Slam title with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Czech teenager Marketa Vondrousova in Paris.

Barty will rise to No. 2 in the world behind Naomi Osaka when the latest rankings are released on Monday.

Elsewhere, Rafael Nadal will look to seal his 12th singles title at Roland-Garros when he takes on Austria's Dominic Thiem in the final on Sunday.
