Atalanta are on the verge of clinching a maiden Champions League quarter-final spot after a convincing win over Valencia.

The Italian side registered a 4-1 victory in the first-leg of their last-16 clash against the Spaniards at the San Siro.

Hans Hateboer struck a brace, while Josip Ilicic and Remo Freuler scored a goal each before Denis Cheryshev salvaged an away goal for Valencia.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur will have to come from behind if they are to progress to the last-eight.

They fell to a 1-0 first-leg defeat against RB Leipzig in North London after Timo Werner converted a penalty in the 58th minute.
