Australia have thrashed New Zealand by 208 runs in the first Test at Brisbane. Chasing a record target of 504, the Black Caps were dismissed for 295 before lunch on day 5. Their captain Brendon McCullum made a fighting 80, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Australian bowlers at bay. Australia’s opening batsman David Warner was named Man of the Match for his innings of 163 and 116. The Aussies lead the three-match series 1-0.
