Avram Grant joins Dubai pro players' programme line up

Dubai Sports Council

Former Chelsea manager and Israel national coach Avram Grant has been signed up by Dubai Sports Council for its new pro players programme.

The scheme called "Your career is your future," aims to develop Al Nasr, Al Wasl, Shabab Al Ahli Dubai and Hatta teams’ professional skills.

The programme has been approved by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, and kicks off later this month.

Emiratis and overseas professionals will take part in the clubs’ corporate social responsibility initiatives and promotional events for sponsors and merchandise.

More than 200 football players will be involved for Dubai's football companies first and Under-21 teams, in addition to elite players from the 14 to 19 age group.

Arabic and cultural lessons will be among the many options available at the workshops.

Grant agreed to participate in the programme during his visit to the Dubai Sports Council in November 2020.

The former Ghana national team and English Premier League manager of Portsmouth and West Ham United will be a senior lecturer in the scheme.

The veteran, who started his coaching career aged 18 in Israel, has almost half a century of training experience.
