Rory McIlroy teed off at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship this morning with a sixth Race to Dubai title in his sights.

The four-time major golf champion requires a top ten finish, with South Africa's Thriston Lawrence the only player able to catch him.

World number three Rory McIlroy remains optimistic about his performances in 2024, despite narrowly missing out on victory at the US Open. The Northern Irish golfer is focused on securing his sixth Race to Dubai title, having already claimed three trophies this year across both the PGA and European Tours, including the Dubai Desert Classic, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry, and the Wells Fargo Championship.

The DP World Tour Championship commenced on Thursday at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai and is expected to finish on Sunday.
