FIFA is considering expanding the World Cup and adding eight countries to the event. World football’s governing body’s executive committee says if the concept is passed we will see 40 countries rather than 32 compete. The idea has been the subject of debate for some time as FIFA currently attempts to restructure itself following allegations of bribery and corruption. Other reform proposals include a 12-year term limit for executive committee members and the president, as well as making salaries of senior officials public.
