Gael Monfils is the latest player to confirm participation in next month’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The 33-year-old Frenchman marks his return to the UAE capital after eight years, having last played in the emirate in December 2011.

The world No. 10 will join the likes of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medvedev in the tournament.

This now means five of the world's top-10 players will be competing in the three-day event.

Five-time Grand Slam winner Maria Sharapova and teen sensation Amanda Anisimova are already part of the women’s lineup.

The 12th edition of the championship will run from 19-21 December at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City.
