Simona Halep is one step closer to reclaiming the world number one spot.
She defeated China's Wang Qiang in two sets to reach the semi-finals of the Miami Open.
If Halep reaches Saturday's final, she'll overtake Japan's Naomi Osaka at the summit of the women's rankings.
Meanwhile, Roger Federer is safely through to the quarter-finals of the Miami Open. The three-time champion beat Russia's Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.
He'll now face South Africa's Kevin Anderson, who beat Jordan Thompson 7-5 7-5.
In six meetings, Federer has only lost to Anderson once. That loss came in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2018.
