Manchester City have one hand on the English Premier League trophy after Vincent Kompany's stunning goal gave them a 1-0 win over Leicester.

The club captain hit a thunderous strike from 25 yards out that arrowed past Kasper Schmeichel into the top corner of the net.

It came as a big relief to all Citizens on a night of high tension as Leicester frustrated the reigning champions for 70 minutes - the longest any visiting team has lasted before conceding at the Etihad Stadium this season.

The Foxes also could have spoiled the party late on but former City striker Kelechi Iheanacho fired a good opportunity wide.

It means that City move back to the top of the table, one point above Liverpool, with one game remaining.

Pep Guardiola's men travel to Brighton the final day knowing that a victory will see them retain the title, while Liverpool host Wolves knowing that their long wait for a 19th championship is likely to go on.
