Serie A title race heats up

MARCO BERTORELLO / AFP

A real title race seems to be taking place in Italy's Serie A, for the first time in several years.

Juventus have held onto their lead with a 3-0 win over Fiorentina - thanks to a double from Cristiano Ronaldo, but Inter Milan and Lazio also registered wins to keep up the pressure.

Juve are three points ahead of second-placed Inter, who beat Udinese 2-0, while Lazio remain third after crushing SPAL 5-1.

Elsewhere, Daniel Maldini, 18, made his Serie A debut for AC Milan to follow in the footsteps of his father, Paolo, and grandfather Cesare.

In other games, Torino suffered a 4-0 defeat at Lecce and Atalanta were held to a 2-2 draw by Genoa.|
