Tokyo postpones training for Olympics volunteers over virus fears

CHARLY TRIBALLEAU / AFP

Training schedules for volunteers of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement, the organisers confirmed that the training, which was set to be held on Saturday, will be rescheduled.

The decision, they added, will not affect other preparations, and the games will go on as planned.

Scheduled to start in Tokyo on July 24, several investors had earlier raised concerns over whether the epidemic will disrupt the games.

So far, more than 80 people have tested positive for the virus in Japan.
