WAM

The UAE national minifootball team secured a 3-0 victory over Costa Rica in a friendly match held Thursday in Baku, with Mohamed Al-Suwaidi scoring two goals and Mansour Ibrahim adding another.

The match is part of the team's ongoing training camp in Azerbaijan, following their participation in the Mini Football World Cup, which concludes on June 1.

The team is scheduled to play a second friendly within the next two days before returning to the UAE on June 2.

Minifootball, a compact version of traditional football played with five players per side on a smaller field, is gaining popularity as a dynamic and accessible sport.

The UAE will host the inaugural edition of the Arab Mini-Football Championship in 2026.
