UAE Team Emirates clinches stage six of Critérium du Dauphiné

WAM

Slovenian world champion Tadej Pogačar led UAE Team Emirates-XRG to an impressive victory in Stage Six of the Critérium du Dauphiné, a major multi-day cycling race in France.

Racing through the mountains, Pogačar pulled away from all his main competitors and finished more than a minute ahead of the next rider — a big margin in professional cycling. The win helped his team take control of the race overall.

The tough mountain roads suited the UAE squad perfectly. Teammates Tim Wellens and Jhonatan Narváez played a key role, setting a strong pace in the final stretch and helping Pogačar time his winning move — a strategy often used in one-day races like the famous Milano-San Remo.

Earlier in the stage, teammate Domen Novak and the rest of the team worked together to keep the race under control. They didn’t allow any early breakaway riders — including a solo effort by Florian Lipowitz of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe — to get too far ahead. Once the race entered the final steep section, Wellens and Narváez took over, helping Pogačar launch his final move.

After the finish, Pogačar praised his teammates and was clearly pleased with the result, “We knew this would be a decisive stage. The team did an incredible job, and I felt great going on the attack. That one-minute gap gives us a strong morale boost heading into the upcoming stages."
