British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancée, Carrie Symonds, have announced the birth of their son.

A spokeswoman for the PM and his partner said the couple "would like to thank the fantastic NHS maternity team."

"Both mother and baby are doing very well," she added.

There was no announcement of a name.

The news comes just days after Johnson returned to work on Monday after recuperating from COVID-19. Symonds, who also had symptoms of the virus, had recovered more swiftly.
