Abu Dhabi Police has announced the detention of 375 individuals of various nationalities on charges of filming various sites and circulating and publishing misleading information related to current events online.
Those detained have been referred to the Public Prosecution to take legal action against them in accordance with the prevailing legislation.
The authority confirmed that despite the warnings and alerts issued on these acts, some individuals violated the instructions, and the action was taken accordingly.
Accordingly, they noted that they will not tolerate taking deterrent legal action against anyone proven to be involved in spreading panic and stirring public opinion, noting it is a crime punishable by law.
The police emphasised that these practices constitute a clear violation of the UAE's laws and regulations, which aim to protect society and preserve its security and stability.
It also called on the public to exercise accuracy and credibility when circulating information, to rely on approved official sources, and to avoid falling for rumors or republishing unverified news.
