The Arab League (AL) has urged ministries of education across Arab nations to incorporate the 'Arab Reading Challenge' initiative into their curricula.
Launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, the initiative aims to promote Arabic literacy and cultural awareness.
The call was made by Ambassadress Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Department at the AL, during a World Arabic Language Day celebration.
Abu Ghazaleh emphasised the importance of the initiative as a groundbreaking cultural project that contributes significantly to the promotion of the Arabic language.
She called for greater investment in initiatives that support the Arabic language, stressing that they are vital in addressing the challenges to cultural identity.
Additionally, Abu Ghazaleh highlighted the need for increased research to improve Arabic language education, noting that the language is central to the heritage and identity of the Arab nation.
