Dubai has approved a package of major urban, population and digital initiatives designed to support the emirate's long-term growth and further enhance the quality of life for residents.

Chairing a meeting of The Executive Council of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, said the emirate is advancing plans that balance economic growth with population expansion, while ensuring infrastructure, services and community development keep pace with future needs.

Among the key decisions was the approval of the Urban Centres Development Plan, which carries investments of more than AED 2 billion through 2040.

Covering six main urban centres and 42 supporting sub-centres, the plan is expected to increase the value of targeted real estate areas by AED 20 billion.

The initiative aims to create more integrated communities by concentrating housing, jobs and services around public transport hubs.

It seeks to increase the share of residents living near metro stations from 52 per cent to 74 per cent, while raising public service coverage from 74 per cent to 85 per cent.

The Council also approved the Sustainable Population Planning Policy, an integrated framework that links demographic trends with economic and urban planning to help guide future infrastructure, services and talent attraction efforts.

In the digital sector, the Council approved a new Digital Authorisation System that will allow individuals and companies to authorise others to complete government transactions on their behalf through a secure, paperless platform powered by UAE PASS.

The system is designed to simplify procedures, reduce risks and deliver a more seamless government experience.
