Rest areas will be provided for delivery riders at select bus and metro stations across Dubai to support them during the UAE's mid-day break.
The rest areas at bus stations will be supplied with hot meals supplied by the UAE Food Bank, in cooperation with Deliveroo, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday.
The authority said it had allocated 8 new locations for the riders, including at Gold Souq Bus Station, Al Satwa Bus Station, Al Qusais Bus Station, Al Karama Bus Station, Centrepoint Metro Station, BurJuman Metro Station and Ibn Battuta Metro Station.
This brings the total number of rest areas to 23, marking a 53 per cent increase compared to 2025.
It reflects RTA's efforts to accommodate the 18 per cent growth in Dubai's delivery sector compared to last year.
The move aims to improve riders’ comfort during the scorching summer months and improve road safety.
The mid-day break, which runs from June 15 to September 15, bans outdoor work between 12:30pm and 3:00 pm.
